TRANSFORMER BLOWS CAUSING MAJOR OUTAGE IN ORILLIA

ORILLIA, ONTARIO – Shortly after 6:30 pm, emergency crews responded to a power transformer in Orillia that had blown, affecting more than 6,000 customers in Orillia.

According to Hydro One, there was a hydro pole fire near the intersection of Coldwater Road and Westmount Drive. Power first flickered and then went out at about 6:25 p.m.

Officials say power is estimated to be restored by 9 p.m.

There were also smaller outages reported around the Orillia area.
